Welcome to my fundraising page!
I have started this page in honor of my dad, Alfred C. King. My father served in Vietnam and came home without the visible wounds that many others did. He went on with his life. I have not seen the effects that his service had on him...but I know he was forever a changed person when he came home. I know that certain things bother him, but he never talks about them. Just as many others don't and won't.
So, in a nutshell, my Dad is MY hero. Who is YOUR hero?
I believe that ALL veterans are heroes. They give up everything to voluntarily serve this country. This country owes ALL veterans a great big thank you for the freedoms we all enjoy.
I never served in the military, but I have been working FOR VETERANS for over 22 years now. I believe the VFW is the BEST veterans organization to be found. They help ALL VETERANS...of ALL WARS...whether they are members or not. Where else do you find that?
In order to help VFW continue to offer programs and assistance to these veterans when it is needed, I have set up this page.
Help me support Veterans of Foreign Wars by making a donation. The process is fast, easy, and secure. I truly appreciate any support you can provide. It will benefit a great cause!
If you can't make a donation at this point, help me reach my goal by sharing this page on Facebook and Twitter!
Or, even better, send an e-mail to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to my page!
Thank you so much for your generosity!
You can stand UNITED FOR VETERANS—Help us raise $75,000 to show you care about our defenders this Veterans Day and every day!
For generations, America’s veterans have answered our country’s call. With no thought for their own safety or security, they have fought tirelessly so that we may live in freedom.
This Veterans Day, VFW is asking you to join us in showing our respect for the sacrifices made by every veteran who has served this great nation of ours.
With the waves of new veterans recently home from the Middle East, your support has never meant more than it does right now.
Because even though they may have left battle, it doesn’t mean they can stop fighting.
Today’s veterans face a mountainous VA workload. Unprecedented numbers of new veterans are living with the effects of “invisible wounds” like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Right now, there are over 3.3 million veterans with service-connected disabilities in America. We need your help to protect the rights of every veteran of every war!
Here’s who benefits when you give to VFW:
Severely Injured Veterans — Young veterans in wheelchairs, living with amputations, burns, blindness or other physical injuries, and the thousands of Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans who have experienced a traumatic brain injury need to know you care. Many are now haunted by crippling mental illnesses like PTSD and at high risk for suicide.
Families in Crisis — What happens when a young spouse suddenly becomes a full-time caregiver? When a child must now care for a disabled parent? It’s happening every day in military households across the country.
Veterans Seeking Justice — Every veteran deserves the swift resolution of their claims. Waiting for their well-earned entitlements shouldn’t take years! VFW advocates for veterans and helps them through the VA claims process. Our service officers recovered more than $2 billion in benefits for nearly 100,000 veterans last year alone.
Please do what you can to make sure our programs can help struggling veterans of all generations.
Donations made to your fundraising page will support VFW programs that help veterans:
- Fight for the VA benefits they’ve earned
- Have a voice on Capitol Hill so promises made are promises kept
- Apply for emergency financial grants to cover groceries, medicine and mortgages
